Ingredients
  1. 2lb. Pork shoulder butt
  2. 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
  3. 1 piece star anise
  4. 1 tsp cornstarch
  5. 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  6. 1 tbs water
  7. 1 tbsp brown sugar or equivalent amount of rock sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat roaster on medium heat until water beads. Butterfly pork and place it into the roaster. Add anise, sugar, soy sauce and wine. Cover lid and when the vapor valve clicks, turn it to low. After 10 minutes, open the lid and turn the meat over, cover and bring heat up to medium until valve clicks again. Turn it back to low for another 20 minutes. Remove meat and cut into small pieces. Add cornstarch and water mixture to sauce, bring to boil and pour sauce over meat.
